Relocating to Spain

Spain has become an increasingly popular destination for expats and digital nomads. Some of the most common visas for moving here include:

  • Non-Lucrative Visa – For those who want to live in Spain without working. Requires proof of income and savings.
  • Family Reunification Visa – For reuniting with Spanish family members already legally residing in Spain, such as a spouse.
  • Digital Nomad Visa – Allows remote workers to live and work from Spain. Launched in 2023.
  • Golden Visa – Allows residency through an investment of €500,000 in Spanish real property

NUMERO DE IDENTIDAD DE EXTRANJERO

Once this visa is granted, clients usually already have a NIE (numero de identidad de extranjero). This allows them to skip a step upon arriving here in Spain to get their residency card. For those who don’t have the NIE, I can help assist you in the process of getting the NIE.

PADRON

Upon arrival in Spain in any of the above-mentioned visas, you have 30 days to apply for your residency. This process begins by registering as a resident. To register as a local resident, you need proof of address, such as a rental contract or a title or deed to the property. Once registered, you will receive your certificate of empadronamiento. This certificate is your official registration with the local municipality. It proves your place of residency in Spain and is required for securing your residency card.

TARJETA DE IDENTIDAD DE EXTRANJERO

The TIE (tarjeta de identidad de extranjero) is your official identification card as a registered resident in Spain. To get your TIE, you’ll need to book an appointment and submit supporting documents to the immigration office. I can assist clients with gathering requirements, scheduling appointments, and completing the application. For FIlipinos, after 2 years of residency, you can already apply for citizenship.

Whether you’re looking to move to lively Madrid, sunny coastal Valencia, or charming Barcelona, I can assist you from visa to residency. Reach out today to get started on your relocation to Spain! Email me at kpborra@borralaw.com to schedule a consultation!
